The national currency is the sol (S/).


The US dollar is accepted by many businesses, at the current exchange rate. Euros (€) must be exchanged for soles or US dollars, at the current exchange rate.

 

Money exchange: Travelers can exchange euros, dollars and other foreign currencies at authorized exchange houses, hotels and banks. Changing money in the street is not recommended. 

 

ATMs: Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are located in banks, shopping malls and stores in Peru’s main cities. They give soles and US dollars and accept different types of card (Visa, American Express and MasterCard).

No vaccinations are mandatory for entering the country. 
But if you are planning to travel to the Peruvian jungle, vaccinations are recommended. 


•Yellow fever vaccination. This vaccination should be received 10 days before visiting the jungle; however, if you are not traveling to the jungle directly, upon arrival in Peru it is possible to receive a yellow fever vaccination at Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport, at the medical post, which is open 24 hours, from Monday to Sunday. 
If you are planning to stay in the jungle for a prolonged period, you should consult your physician regarding vaccinations for hepatitis, typhoid and tetanus, and you should consider malaria prophylaxis.
