The most significant thematic districts presented the Peruvian cultural showcase, reflecting the principles on which Expo Dubai 2020 revolves: Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability.

On March 7, 2022, Peru celebrated its National Day with color, flavor, and culture in the United Arab Emirates, within the framework of Expo 2020 Dubai, the most important exhibition in the world, as announced by the Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Export and Tourism (PROMPERU).

The activities began in the morning with an official ceremony in charge of the representatives of the World Expo Dubai and the Peruvian delegation headed by the General Commissioner of our country before the Expo and the executive president of PROMPERÚ, in presence of official representatives of the different countries attending.

After the Peruvian flag-raising ceremony, in the afternoon, a projection of our national symbol was made on a surface of 130 meters wide in Al-Wasl Plaza, in the heart of the Expo 2020 Dubai, so that the red and white colors flooded the largest 360º projection surface in the world.

The Peruvian cast also presented a show called “Wayra”, a beautiful show - based on the concept of the significance of wind in our millenary worldview - that showed our multicultural identity through the performance of wind instruments and dances from the different regions of our country, highlighting the Northern Marinera (La Libertad), Io Patati (Ucayali), Huaylarsh de Carnaval (Junín), and Negrería de Yauyos (Lima).

Although the official activities for Peru Day have ended, it is necessary to highlight that the Peruvian festive spirit will continue to be present in Dubai: the presentations of our compatriots will be repeated over the next two days, both on the stages provided by the Expo for the public to enjoy the art shows, and in Peru Pavilion where, in addition to promoting our culture, biodiversity and business opportunities for the export, tourism, and business investment sectors, there will also be demonstrations and tastings of our famous Peruvian cuisine for attendees using attractive inputs that are of commercial interest to the Arab market, and of course, our splendid pisco and high-quality Peruvian coffee.

It is necessary to highlight that the Expo 2020 Dubai is a focal point meeting of the global economic recovery process and Peru's presence in this international scenario. Besides, the participation of more than 190 countries represents a unique opportunity to boost the economy of the different regions of the country through commercial platforms.
