The Pisco Sour has one more fan. This time, the recognition came from Oceania. From Australia, to be precise: the pop singer, Kylie Minogue, stated that her favorite cocktail is none other than Pisco Sour.

During her #DISCO with KYLIE! show, broadcast live through her Facebook Watch account, the interpreter of Can't get you out of my head, Come into my world and Love at first sight, answers questions from her fans while listen to music and dance. One of them asked her about her favorite cocktail and the Australian did not keep anything. "I think one of my favorite cocktails is Pisco Sour, it is very good," said Minogue without having to think about it.

How was Kylie Minogue's taste for Pisco Sour born? It is a mystery that many of her Peruvian fans hope to find out. A clue to try to decipher this connection could be her first visit to Peru: in November 2008, she gave a concert at the Monumental Stadium in Lima, during the tour of her album X. That time, Minogue wore a chullo with Peruvian motifs.

You can see Kylie Minogue's (19:54) response in the video below.

The history of the cocktail

On April 31, 1613, the testament of the citizen of Ica, Pedro Manuel, nicknamed the ‘Greek’, came to light, which is considered the first record of the distillate called pisco. "Thirty jars of burney and full of brandy containing one hundred and sixty bottles of brandy, plus a cask full of brandy containing thirty bottles of said firewater," reads the document that is part of the research carried out by historian Lorenzo Huertas.

This brandy was known as pisco, a name it received from the place where the grapes are grown for its production (Pisco, in the department of Ica).

The tip

In 2018, another popular music superstar brought up Pisco Sour. Katy Perry, during her tour in Lima, "apologized" to her followers for not answering in time. “I'm sorry, I was distracted by a real Pisco Sour. Wait for my tweets live now... they will be inspired,” the singer wrote.
