The prestige of Peruvian cuisine knows no limits. The Mayta restaurant, located in Lima, the capital of Peru, was recognized as the Best Restaurant in the World at the third edition of the World Culinary Awards 2022. The awards ceremony took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on December 13.
Precisely this international award recognizes the best of the culinary universe through a selection led by industry professionals, as well as the general public. This achievement is also considered an important boost for the country's culinary culture.
In this context, the Mayta restaurant stood out for its impeccable proposal, based on contemporary Peruvian cuisine and the use of local products. These characteristics were among the most outstanding during the awards ceremony.
Finally, the national culinary space, led by chef Jaime Pesaque, competed against its counterparts from Anan Restaurant & Rooftop Bar (Vietnam), Atelier Crenn (United States), Attica (Australia), Château Mon Désir (Mauritania), COYA (Dubai), Atlantis (Bahamas), La Colombe (South Africa) and Uliassi (Italy).
More awards
The World Culinary Awards, the sister event of the World Travel Awards, also gave other awards to Peruvian cuisine. In this case, the country, at the Latin American level, was recognized as Best Culinary Destination 2022, while the culinary spot of La Gloria stood out as Best Iconic Restaurant. In addition, El Perroquet, at the Country Club Lima Hotel, was recognized as the Best Haute-Cuisine Hotel Restaurant 2022 in Latin America.
Furthermore, the Belmond Las Casitas Colca Canyon Hotel, located in the Arequipa region, was the winner in the category of Best Hotel Restaurant in Peru.
