Visiting Trujillo, the capital of La Libertad, does not just mean enjoying its all-year-round pleasant climate. It means much more: this is one of the most important urban centers on Peru’s northern coast.

The heart of Trujillo is its main square, or “Plaza de Armas”, where visitors can take photos of the beautiful La Libertad monument that adorns the middle of the square. The cathedral and several colonial-era buildings surround the square, and their facades display the city’s typical balconies and iron grille work. A few blocks from the square is the remarkable Toy Museum, with its famous café bar, which adds a cosmopolitan touch to the city.

In Trujillo, every block offers new discoveries, and you can even opt to take a traditional “marinera” dance class. It’s worth trying.
