This 2023, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) honored Chacas, Chavín de Huántar, Paucartambo, Pozuzo, and Taquile as the Best Tourism Villages in the World. This recognition acknowledges their importace in fostering community development and welfare and emphasizes the substantial impact of tourism as an engine for progress.

Out of a pool of 260 submissions from more than 60 countries, these towns shone brightly, showcasing their remarkable dedication to comprehensive sustainable tourism, encompassing economic, social, and environmental aspects. Furthermore, they stand as prominent models of rural tourist destinations that both cherish and actively promote their local treasures.

Beyond the prestigious award they receive, they also have the opportunity to showcase their destinations under the prestigious title of the Best Global Tourism Villages in all their communication activities. This provides travelers with the opportunity to delve into these treasures and immerse themselves in the authenticity and splendor that Peru has to offer.

 

Chacas (Áncash region)
