Peru has won two important categories in the first edition of the World Cruise Awards. These are the main global and regional categories in which Peru was recognized as the best river cruise destination in the world and the best river cruise destination in Latin America.

The World Cruise Awards serve to recognize, reward, and celebrate excellence in the global cruise industry through its annual awards program. These awards are the result of voting by industry professionals, as well as the media and consumers, who had the opportunity to vote for their favorite cruise brands.

It has been an encouraging year for Peru in terms of awards and nominations. A few months ago, the winners of the various categories in the WTA South America were announced, where Peru was considered the best culinary destination leader in South America, best cultural destination leader in South America, Machupicchu was considered the leading tourist attraction in South America and PROMPERÚ the leading tourism office in South America.

Visit the Peruvian Amazon

The cruise tourism industry is particularly important for regions that see opportunities in the development of sustainable practices around natural resources and emblematic landscapes such as, for example, the Amazon River, located in the Peruvian Amazon.

Near the Amazon River, there are several tourist activities that are requested by travelers from all over the world. Among the most requested, in addition to luxury cruises on the tributary of the Amazon River - where you can appreciate the flora and fauna of the area in an incredible way - is the visit to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, located in the Loreto region, which is home to unique species on the planet such as the pink dolphin, the charapa turtle or the paiche.

It is also possible to interact with ethnic communities in the northeastern part of Peru. Among them, you can visit the communities of the Boras or Yahuas (as well as various peasant communities), who will teach you their way of life and ancestral customs.
