There is no doubt that Peru captivates everyone who visits it. This time the country and its magic conquered the renowned American interior designer and television host Jeremiah Brent who was impressed with Peruvian crafts during his last walk through the city of Cusco.
“Pieces that hold a story. @nateberkus and I have been adding to our collection of Peruvian pottery ever since our engagement trip to Machu Picchu where we came across these handcrafted bulls. What do you collect in your home?”, this is how Jeremiah shared his feelings on Instagram along with a video that shows a series of Peruvian souvenirs, among which the famous Toritos de Pucará stand out.
These pottery pieces, characteristic of the province of Azángaro (Puno), which are considered a symbol of protection and happiness for the families, were acquired during an engagement trip with his fiancé, interior designer Nate Berkus.
In the video, which has more than 40 thousand reproductions, the protagonist of the Netflix series, Say I Do, proudly shows his entire collection of these works. Jeremiah travels around the world collecting valuable historical items, such as these popular Toritos, using them to curate the homes of his clients to reflect those travels.
In 2011, Brent founded his design firm. Since that time, he has transformed houses, restaurants, and public spaces into collector's items. Always with a modern style focusing on the beauty that California (his birthplace) inspires on him. "Successful interior design is, above all, a personal reflection of the past, present and future," says the American TV host.
Other important visits
Like Jeremiah, there are many actors and influencers who have expressed their love for Peruvian culture and have made a space in their agendas to visit this country. Actors such as the Spanish Pedro Alonso -the popular ‘Berlin’ from "Money Heist"- and the Mexican Bárbara Mori -protagonist of ‘Rubí’- also recently visited Peru and were amazed by all its beauty.
American actor Zac Efron also visited Peru a few months ago for the filming of Netflix series "Down to Earth." The star of "High School Musical" took time to tour the Miraflores 'malecón' (boardwalk) and practice sandboarding with Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez.
