Peru also won two gold medals in the categories of white wine and extra virgin spicy oil, respectively, in an important championship of wines, spirits and oils held in Portugal.
Pisco was once again recognized in Europe after winning 33 medals at the Virtus International Awards 2022, one of the most prestigious wine, spirits, and oil competitions in the world.
During the third edition held in Lisbon (Portugal), Peru's flagship beverage obtained 8 great gold, 17 gold and 8 silver medals. The products that received the highest recognition in the wine spirits category were Don Rómulo Quebranta, Camaná Puro Quebranta, Mosto Verde Albilla, Mosto Verde Torontel Gran Paso, Nasca Acholado (muscatel, torontel and quebranta), Nasca (muscatel variety), Portón Mosto Verde Italia and Toro Muerto Puro Torontel.
Likewise, Raíces Negras Moscatel de Alejandría and Coupage Criolla (Sevillana del Perú-Arbequina) won two gold medals in the white wine and spicy extra virgin olive oil categories, respectively. In addition, the apricot macerated wines Rayito de Sol (great gold) and Secretos (silver) also received awards.
Although Peru as a country won a total of 38 medals at the Virtus International Awards 2022, it is important to point out that the Italian company Rossi & Rossi SRL, which won the gold medal at the Portuguese competition, produces its Millonario XO rum at a plant located in Lambayeque, a city in northern Peru.
In this third edition, the Peruvian representatives showed quality and a high level of commitment in bringing the best of their products to Virtus: outstanding piscos, olive oils, wines, macerates and other spirits that convinced the demanding jury, achieving high scores that demonstrate their great prestige worldwide.
